I won a prize when I was 7 for writing a story about squirrels. That’s my earliest memory of how much I loved to write and share my stories with others – not for recognition, but because I wanted to create the same kind of joy other writers brought to me. And I had a lot of ideas. So many books, too many to call out, have brought me hours and hours of pure bliss and magical rapture. The one world I fell into when I grew older was romance. I loved Nancy Drew but I did always want her to marry a Hardy Boy, and I moved on to Sweet Valley High then Mills & Boon (adeptly pilfered from my mother’s bedside table!) then Julie Garwood and beyond.
I have multiple journals and notebooks where I’ve jotted down ideas over the years (thankfully, no more stories about squirrels!) and numerous stories I’ve written on my mother’s original green typewriter with cursive letters. At one point, I packed them all away into boxes and focussed on other parts of my life. But, one day, I opened those boxes again and rediscovered my passion. I am now entirely and fully ensconced back into the writing universe, the best part about it is discovering a new community and network of friends and supporters (and frankly, just amazing people writing more amazing books….about love!).
I hope I can write a story one day that you love….in the meantime, keep reading!
